Denja (デンジャ) is the main antagonist turned anti-hero who appears in Doraemon's Long Day.
Appearance[]
He has a strong metallic body which is red in color with long hands and legs. He also has a strong metallic head with red eyes and a green button near his torso.
Story[]
The main antagonist in his only appearance, Denja is a wanted criminal in the 22nd century for multiple counts of unspecified crimes, amongst them robbery, terrorism and possibly murder, enough to warrant a one-century sentence, though insufficient for capital punishment in favor of rehabilitation. During an escape, he is critically damaged and has to be hospitalized at the same hospital that Doraemon went for checkup. With a help of Substitution Rope that is (conveniently) stuck out of Doraemon's pocket, Denja assumes control of Doraemon's body and evades the authorities, sending Doraemon on a wild goose chase with police hot on his trail. When Doraemon does return from the future, they fight each other, culminating in Doraemon revealing himself to Nobita, blowing Denja's cover. During the ordeal, Denja finally finds solace in Nobita's kindness toward him, and, after the authorities appear in the past, surrenders to them. He is taken way for prosecution and possibly rehabilitation. What happens of him remains unknown.
Personality[]
At a glance, Denja might be a heartless, selfish and violent criminal. However, these hide Denja's caring personality, which can be seen when he gets into an accident just to avoid hitting a dog on the road. Also, his mean personality comes from him being abandoned by his human partner and believing that humans are nothing but cruel. This perspective is changed when he meets Nobita while he is in Doraemon's body as the latter says that he felt sorry for Denja when he was abandoned.
Relationships[]
Nobita Nobi[]
Denja initially didn't sympathize with Nobita and even resents him, although he does drop it somewhat when they interact and Nobita refuses to hold a grudge against him for all his misdeeds.
Doraemon[]
As with the authorities, Denja considers him an enemy getting in the way of his escape before Nobita shifts and neuters his perspective. Presumably a lone wolf, he also envies Doraemon for having a friend dedicated to each other.
Trivia[]
- Being a notorious criminal, Denja presumably excels at combat and weapon tinkering.
- Denja has the same pronunciation as Danger, befitting his status as a dangerous wanted suspect.
