Doraemon: Nobita's Great Adventure into the Underworld (ドラえもん のび太の魔界大冒険 Doraemon: Nobita no Makai Dai Bōken) is the fifth installment of the Doraemon feature films. A remake of the movie, titled Doraemon: Nobita's New Great Adventure into the Underworld ~The 7 Magic Users~, was released on 2007.

A frustrated Nobita wishes for a world where magic is the norm, creating an alternate reality where a demonic planet threatens to collide with Earth.

Nobita requests of Doraemon the Moshimo-box and wishes for the world to become a place where the use of magic is possible. Witchcraft replaces science and technology and everyone makes use of it on their daily lives, except for Nobita, who, like usual, isn't very good at conjuring spells. Frustrated, he plans on returning things to their past state, but his mother threw the Moshimo-box away.

Doraemon's Long Tales VOL.5 Noby and the Devildoom Chronicles

Later, Noby and Doraemon meet Dr. Fullmoon and his daughter Luna. Dr. Fullmoon, a magic professor, believes Devildoom is approaching and that the end of the world is near. Dubious, Noby and Doraemon visit Dr. Fullmoon again the following day, only to discover that his mansion has vanished. That night, capturing the light from the moon, the strange cat that has been following Noby around is transformed into a human - it is Luna, Dr. Fullmoon's daughter. Luna says her father has been taken away by demons, and begs Noby and Doraemon to help her fight the Demonlord. Can they save Dr. Fullmoon, and stop Devildoom from destroying the world? Full of magic and mystery, the fifth tale of the Doraemon's Long Tales series!

Plot

Nobita has been vaguely indulging in fantasy for the past few days. When Doraemon saw the situation, he said, "I'm going to throw away the trash," and took Nobita to the trash dump. Then they find a strange stone statue that looks exactly like Doraemon and takes it home. After that, Nobita is invited to baseball by Gian, but lost as usual and was blamed by everyone. At that time, Doraemon quietly confessed his longing for magic. Although the two did not take it seriously and consulted with Dekisugi, magic was established as an academic discipline in the past, but it was targeted for witch-hunting as a method to borrow the power of the devil, while science developed. Nobita finds a stone statue that looks exactly like himself. As he is taught that magic has disappeared, no one understands it, and he cannot give up his dream and is depressed. Doraemon wonders when he sees their stone statue, but when Nobita speculates that he is "in another world that has been turned into a stone," Doraemon leaves the stone statue as it is. At midnight, when they hear a strange voice from the front door, they head to the front door and the stone statue stood in a different pose. When he puts it in the storeroom again and returns to the room, Nobita suddenly remembers Doraemon's secret tool, "Moshimo Box". After hearing Nobita's suggestion, Doraemon decided to take out the box and realize the magical world.

However, in the realized "magical world", friends and family can use magic, but it is far from Nobita's expectations and imagination, and he has to receive a school education to learn magic. He has to have a license and a high price to operate a magic carpet. It was just a substitute for the foundation of civilization, which required Nobita, from science to magic. In the end, Nobita, who was disappointed by everyone in the magical world as well as in the real world, was completely disappointed. However, even in this world, when Gian and Suneo taunt him, he is enthusiastic to return to the original world after learning at least one of the simple magic tricks. Doraemon desperately cheers for Nobita's spirit, but an earthquake strikes just before that. According to Shizuka, frequent earthquakes are related to a hypothesis of a doctor of magic, the theory of approaching the demon world. Suneo and Gian bully the monkey, it burns the brooms and lets them fall. Shizuka puts to good use the magic to take to the house to cure them.

One day, Doraemon and his friends meet Dr. Mangetsu, who is advocating the theory of the approaching demon world, in the mountains. According to his research, the demons of the demon world are currently planning to invade the earth, and humankind will be destroyed by demons with their magical power if it is not stopped. Earthquakes and huge typhoons that are approaching the world are just precursors. Doraemon and Nobita try to return to the original world, but the box had been abandoned by Tamako. They try to recover it but were unsuccessful in the end, ending up blaming each other. After dinner, they quarrel to watch TV programs but Nobita's father watches the news about the massive typhoon that is coming.

Reconciling while they were quarreling that night, the two try to visit Dr. Mangetsu's house again and talk in detail. However, the doctor's house disappears without a trace, and only one stray cat was standing. The cat was the doctor's beloved daughter, Miyoko, and was changed by the magic of the devil.

The gang goes to the teacher to consult the devil who is approaching the Earth. The teacher tells Nobita's grade is unreasonable. He says devils and ghosts are acting against the law and reason is a long-ago matter, nearly 100 years, and it doesn't have persuasive witness matter - they died out due to the human society's development. Dr. Mangetsu thinks devils aren't organisms of the Earth; they are from the Underworld, as he calls it. Meanwhile, Miyoko asks the group to go to the demon world together. According to the fortune-telling of the crystal ball, he told the gang that five heroes defeat the Demon King: Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Suneo, and Gian. The five hesitate but decide to board the demon world with Miyoko and challenge the Devil and his minions

The next day, the massive typhoon comes so they leave home from school early. After Nobita comes back home, Doraemon and Nobita decide to go to the demon world. After arriving at the demon world, they find the book hidden in the tree hollow, but it flies to Miyoko. It is a star lower level, we mustn't defeat them, Before it enters the Underworld, we avoid the adventure. Shizuka is chased by the devil. Miyoko tries to defeat it. Miyoko praises Doraemon because he can put to good use the magic to defeat it. Doraemon puts on the magic hat and uses it for acting. Miyoko takes the magic carpet, used for camping and flying in the universe. The book they retrieved mentions Underworld, surrounded by black flame. They take a month to arrive at their target.

They feel hot, and after passing through the zone of flame, they feel better. The magic carpet is on fire, so they have to get out and find a place to hide. The devils find the burnt magic carpet, while the gang successfully escapes. They feel cold, so Miyoko gives them some fire to let them warm. They must leave the South Pole before they freeze to death. They encounter a snowstorm, so Doraemon uses the Turvy Topsy Cream to let them warm. They see the mermaid island on their way and Gian uses his song to get them out while others escape. They see the devil city in a while. Miyoko mentions there are some port cities along the sea line, they avoid them to land. The gang uses the northwest direction to fly to the tree. Finally, they enter the devil king's castle. Their attempts are, however, thwarted and Miyoko is captured.

Doraemon and his friends then decide to use the Time Machine to return to the past and tell them to stop using it, but they are chased by Medusa, so they use the flying broom to escape. However, they are transformed into stone statues by Medusa and she finishes her mission. Doraemon and Nobita are eventually shined upon by the moon and transform to the original state but they transform again after entering Nobita's house. Suddenly, Dorami arrives and uses Time Cloth to transform Doraemon and Nobita to the original state. They use Dorami's Moshimo-box and manage to restore the Earth, but this matter has not over yet because they need to save the captured gang. They travel to the magic world using the Time Machine. The events in the Underworld continue to take place in a Parallel Universe, and they are informed of the devil's heart isn't in the noumenon, and is hiding in the ace. The captured gang can't use the magic to escape, it is going to be tonight's dishes, demons quarrel about how to cook them. To save captured gang, Dorami sets off fireworks, to divert the attention of the demons. Luckily Doraemon puts on Magic Hat to throw out them. Nobita uses Time Cloth to cover the collected magic carpet ash to its original form, and the group is once again forced to travel to the Underworld and defeat its tyrannical ruler once and for all, but the gang is again chased by the demons. Gian pierces his dart into the heart of the king. Finally, he transforms into a fireball to rushes forward to the Underground Planet, destroying it and the entire demon world. They rebuild his house and restore the Earth. Suneo thinks it is a fantasy and Nobitas tries out his "magic". The wind blows and Shizuka's skirt is lifted - Nobita is happily invited by the others to play, and the movie ends.

  • Due to the contract between ShoPro, Fujiko Pro and Victor Music Industries (now JVC Kenwood Victor Entertainment Corporation) was being expired, the song Kaze no Magical was replaced by Dakara Minna De in the movie's future home video releases. In addition, the instrumental version of the same song, which was also featured in the movie, was replaced by the instrumental version of Pocket no Naka Ni for the same reason.
