Plot[]
The movie starts with Dekisugi expressing his love to Shizuka, which makes Nobita cry (even though it was a rehearsal for a play in Nobita's school though Nobita thought that it could influence Shizuka to marry Dekisugi). He goes to Doraemon, asking him to take him to the future to see if he and Shizuka will marry. Nobita and Doraemon travel to the future. When they arrive, they find out that they arrived on the day before the wedding. Future Nobita goes to a hotel and is told that his marriage would be held the next day. Nobita and Shizuka go for a walk but find a lost cat and decide to return it to its owner. But when they arrive near the house, they find out that the owner of the cat is going to fly to America. Nobita and Shizuka then decide to deliver the cat to the airport.
When they are on their way to the airport they find Gian and Suneo and give them a lift to the airport. But as they are about to reach the airport, their car runs out of fuel. Nobita and Shizuka run to the airport but find out that the plane had left. Luckily they learn that the cat owner's plane was assigned to a different gate and return the cat to the owner. They go back to the car and Gian invites Nobita to his bachelor party. He goes to the party and after returning he remembers Doraemon and his childhood. All the time he is being followed by Nobita (as a child) and Doraemon. Shizuka's mom advises Shizuka to go to sleep in preparation of the big day. At the end of the story, Shizuka's father has a long talk with the adult Shizuka over her choice of marrying Nobita. Trivia[]
- A subplot of adult Nobita and his friends returns the cat to its owner is not available in the original manga version and the both 1979 and 2005 anime adaptations.
- This film was adapted in Stand by Me Doraemon. Additionally, both Nobita and Shizuka initially felt hesitant about their marriage at the time close to their wedding. While Shizuka was quick to regain her confidence, it'll take longer for Nobita to get his confidence back in the sequel.
- Depending on her age, the appearance of Shizuka's is listed when her father explains that he having good memories about Shizuka:
- When Shizuka is a baby, her hair is MUCH shorter and wearing pink clothes. Next, she wears pink clothes and blue pants/diapers.
- When she was on kindergarten age, Shizuka's hair begin receiving her pigtails. She wearing an kindergarten hat, blue clothes, white skirt, red shoes and having a small bag. Also, when she holds an sweet potato, she looks very slightly chubby, and wears white clothes, brown skirts and shoes (and it's very slightly aged as well).
- Since Shizuka's first day at elementary school, her appearances (in the most of the 1979 anime episodes) were kept not changed (with the exception of height growth (as she grows up) and different clothes), even grow into the age of 13-14.
- Shizuka wears the high school uniform in her graduation day, and a kimono in a Japanese coming-of-age ceremony, albeit slightly aged.
