Before any English dubs of the Doraemon 2005 anime were made, an unofficial English dub of the Doraemon 1979 anime called Albert and Sydney aired in the 1980s and/or 1990s on Saturday mornings on CBC TV 8 in Barbados. Almost nothing is known about it. It was probably produced in the UK according to one forum post.

All text in the anime itself (for example, signs on stores) were kept in Japanese.

According to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, Adventures of Albert and Sidney was dubbed by Montreal animation studio Cinar. This dub was approved by the CRTC on June 6, 1986. Despite this, Albert and Sydney were never aired in Canadian televisions.

A portion of the intro remembered by someone.

Look a propeller, on top of your hat!

Albert and Sydney, a boy and his cat.

Albert has magic, Sydney has fun.

Look at them soaring,

they'll go exploring,

and you'll be seeing

Albert and Sydney, again!
