Every article must adhere to the Manual of Style; please read it and contact an administrator whenever you have any query.

General Guidelines

  • All pages must have proper spelling and grammar.
    • Never use double spaces when writing on any page or subpage.
    • Do not put spaces on either side of slashes (/ or \).
    • Do not put empty paragraphs or sections on any page or subpage.
    • Article titles and headings should have the first word capitalized, along with every other word that isn't an article (e.g.: "the", "a/an", "and"), save for policy articles. The same applies to categories and subpages.
  • No decision had been made on whether the wiki will use a specific variety of English, however, US English spellings for articles are preferred to maintain consistency.
  • A computer with a mouse and keyboard is recommend for easier editing of articles.

Articles

Templates

  • All article pages must have a relevant continuity template.
    • There should only be 1 continuity template on an article. Please refer to an admin if you are unsure which template goes there or think if more than 1 are required.
    • Gallery, Category, Disambiguation and Special pages do not require a continuity template.
  • A list of continuity templates (and a few maintenance templates) can be found here.

Ordering of the templates goes as follows:

  1. Stub (if applicable)
  2. Cleanup (if applicable)
  3. Continuity Template
  4. Disambiguation Notice (if applicable)

Infobox

The relevant infobox must be applied. Note that in general all article pages must have an infobox. Special pages are exempt.

Lead section

The lead section of every article should start with the title of the article in bold and a short sentence(s) related to it (e.g.: "Doraemon is cat robot created in 22nd century.")
Note:

  • Lead section should be short and precise. Long descriptions and/or history of the subject should not be mentioned in the lead section.
  • The purpose of the lead section is to directly explain what the subject of the article is. Statements like "X first appeared in XYZ" should be avoided unless accompanied by information on what X is.

Appearance

This section must be ordered series-wise (1973 anime series, then 1979, it's remade, 2005 anime and then remade of 2005 anime), with special appearances in each series listed after the main appearance. Exceptions are long pages such as Nobita Nobi, where due to the exceedingly large number of special outfits, the section is divided into "Regular Appearances" and "Occasional Appearances". The gallery for appearances, however, is strictly chronological (age-wise), with alternate canon versions (that don't have a separate page) appended at the end of the list.

Personality

Description about character's personality should be put in the section. It also contains the list of things which the character is afraid of.

Noteworthy Events

Major Events

Major events include but are not limited to: Doraemon's gadgets first time appearance in the series the article refers to, a recurring character crying, a recurring character being introduced, and a noteworthy planet being shown and/or traveled to.

Minor Events

Minor events include but are not limited to: a non-recurring character being introduced, and a minor city being shown and/or traveled to.

History

History section must be strictly ordered according to in-universe chronology.
In-universe chronology is defined by in-universe clues, crew information and production order of episodes.

Skills

This section must contain the talents, skills, dreams of the character.

Trivia

  • The trivia section should have curiosities regarding the article (e.g.: "This episode aired on the tenth year anniversary of Doraemon.") and not pointless information regarding random events (e.g.: "This is the fourth time Doraemon took out gadget X from his pocket uselessly.")
  • Trivia must be ordered in decreasing order of relevance and canonicity.
    • First are facts mentioned in episodes, then facts mentioned by crew, facts in pop-ups or merchandise, then observations ("X, Y and Z are the only gadgets to have been broken by Nobita on-screen."), then alternate story ideas by the crew (things that didn't make it into the show and were left in production), then connections to other shows, and lastly, similarities.

References

The references section should have links to any external or internal references made on the page.

Add the {{Reflist}} template to the section with <ref>*REF*</ref> tags to the place where references are made.

Note that all canon references are made by the above methods. All second-level canon sources (eg, crew, pop-ups and merchandise (toy cards etc.)) are marked in a special way:
{{Refn|*REF*|group = *XYZ*}}
where XYZ is "pop-up" or "merch" or the initials of the crew member. In the references section, a separate template: {{Reflist|group = *XYZ*}} must be added.

See Also

The "See Also" section should have links to other articles that are relevant to it. For example, the Gulliver's Tunnel article's "See Also" section should contain links to, among other articles, "Small Light" and "Big Light".

Overlinking

Links to any specific page should only appear once per section.

Italicizing and Bolding

Links to episode articles or just names of episodes should be italicized, links to series articles or just names of series should be bolded, and links to movie articles should be italicized and bolded. All other links should not have any sort of emphasis.

Galleries

No article should have a gallery section for extra images. A separate gallery page should be made.

Content

Categories

Galleries should only have gallery-related categories (e.g.: "Galleries", "Episode Galleries") and not categories belonging to the main article (e.g.: "Characters", "Episodes").

Text

Galleries should not have any text whatsoever, except in the form of captions and sections.

User Pages

Templates

User pages should not have templates that automatically add non-user categories to them. They will be removed when found. If the user wants to apply an infobox to their page, they must use only the {{Userinfobox}} template.

Categories

All user pages must have the category "Users" added to them and, if necessary, additional categories regarding that user's position, with the only exception being Wikia staff.
