I'm also from the 22nd Century. There was a break-in at the international Science Lab and one of the new four-dimensional carry-alls have gone missing.

— The Future Criminal introduces himself.

The Future Criminal, also known as the Thief, is a character from the Doraemon series, making his debut in A Visitor from the Country of the Future from the manga version. The character's authentic name is unknown, but he is summoned to Nobita Nobi's time period when Takeshi Gouda gets his hands on a fourth-dimensional carry-all.

History[]

In his first appearance, the Future Criminal frees Nobita Nobi, Shizuka Minamoto, Suneo Honekawa, and MS-903 Doraemon from the Perfect Catch Gadget, masquerading as someone for a peacekeeping agency. The gang, not knowing the Future Criminal's true intentions, spill the beans: Takeshi got his hands on a special fourth-dimension bag. Doraemon and company join forces with the so-called agent, splitting to stop Takeshi's mischief sooner. However, moments after the "agent" goes his own path, the gang gets a call from the future, stating that a criminal is on the loose, his appearance matching the so-called "agent's" look.

The gang eventually manages to convince Takeshi Gouda that his mischief should stop, and when he realises that he is being chased by the Future Criminal, he joins the gang to take down the criminal. The criminal gets his comeuppance when Mrs. Gouda shows up as her son was spending too much time with his delivery: she smashes the criminal's head. At the end of the episode, Takeshi is shown being carried off by his mother, who threatens to punish him.

Trivia[]

  • There is some foreshadowing of the Future Criminal's true nature that can be easily missed when the criminal turns his back after the gang thanks him for his help in the form of "Of course!" being said in a slightly-sinister tone.
