Louis Stream (ルイ・ストリーム Rui Sutorīmu) is an anime original character of the 1989 anime adaptation of Time Patrol Bon. He is the elder brother of Ream Stream, and he partially replaced John Defoe's role as a non-malicious time criminal.[1]
Appearance[]
Louis is a tall and slender individual.
Personality[]
Akin to John Defoe, Louis is a dedicated Time Patrol officer with a strong sense of justice and love for innocent animals and people, and his heroic personality led him to an attempt to commit a murder to save Leviathan and her fellow Right whales from extinctions.
He is also compassionate and prioritizes welfares of animals and people than regulations of Time Patrol as he did so to save Bon Namihira from an execution by the organization, so as Leviathan and her fellow Right whales.
Skills and Abilities[]
Aside from being a capable Time Patrol officer, Louis is also a talented zoologist and is also familiar with veterinary.
He is also skilled in close combats, and seized armed criminals without using guns within a pyramid.
Relationships[]
Ream Stream[]
Louis is Ream's elder brother and a senior patrol member of Ream in the 1989 anime. Ream deeply respects him both as a brother and a senior agent, however she was troubled by the issue of a warrant for arrest of him.
Bon Namihira[]
Louis accidentally met Bon and Ream in the Cretaceous period where Louis was protecting dinosaurs from time tripping poachers, and Bon and Ream were sent there during the attempt to erase Bon. As Ream made a plea to save Bon from an execution, Louis was cooperative to her sister, and the sibling decided to advocate Bon as an agent trainee to the Time Patrol headquarter for the sake of Bon. Louis and Buyoyon also saved Ream and Bon from criminal time trippers in Egypt.
When Time Patrol headquarter decided to arrest Louis after the event of Leviathan, Ream and Bon and Yumiko Yasukawa instead made pleas to Gayler to release Louis, and Louis was eventually acquitted partially because he was prevented from committing a murder by Bon and Yumiko.
Yumiko Yasukawa[]
Yumiko strongly protested against Louis' arrest, and contributed in saving him.
Buyoyon[]
Apparently Buyoyon respects Louis.
Leviathan[]
Louis is dedicated to protect Leviathan and other Right whales from extinctions.
Trivia[]
- Unlike John Defoe who was eventually arrested, Louis in the 1989 anime was instead released on bail thanks to pleas of Ream and Bon and Yumiko.
- It is unclear whether or not Louis was completely an original character developed for the 1989 anime, or Fujiko F. Fujio might have indeed had the idea of him, but failed to use for the manga due to the suspension of Monthly Shōnen World and Fujiko's health issues and eventual death.
- The 2024 anime adaptation was produced without the author who passed away in 1996, and this might have resulted in Louis' absence from the Netflix series.
- In the 2024 anime adaptation, Rosa appeared as an anime-original character who associates with Ream.
- The story of Lulu and her elder brother Lex from Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur 2006 is somewhat reminiscent of Ream and Louis.
