It began full-time colour broadcasts (along with Channel 5) three years later, and in 1979, the government policies regarding use of Chinese led to the use of pure Mandarin in all its programming.

On 1 February 1980, RTS was renamed as Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), followed by Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) in 1994 and MediaCorp in 2001, and continued airing in Mandarin and Tamil until 24-hour broadcasts began in September 1995. On 8 December 2015, MediaCorp unveiled a new logo to represent the organisation as a window to the world and a reflection of life.
