Moa, or better known as Angolmois is the main antagonist of the movie, Doraemon: Nobita Drifts in the Universe. He is a powerful, corrokinetic entity that is responsible for the conflict in the movie including turning Lian's father evil.

Story[]

Moa's past is largely unknown, but it is heavily implied that he is the accumulation of the malice in all of sentient beings in the universe. Some time after the death of Liebert's wife, Moa appeared and took advantage of his sorrow to hypnotize him and his troops into doing his bidding, convincing Liebert to invade Earth for the Gaians.

When Lian and his friends come to Earth, Moa sends Freya to spy on them, trying to prevent the Earthlings from ruining his plans. Eventually Lian, his friends and the main group are arrested and imprisoned, but a redeemed Freya frees them and escapes with them. Because of this, Moa accelerates the invasion on Earth, but the main group thwart his plan. Lian manages to convinces Liebert to break free of Moa's control, and the commander then shoots Moa to death. However, upon being unmasked, everyone is surprised to learn that Moa is a mere robot.

However, Moa later reveals himself to be still alive and had in fact merely possessed the robot, which he created himself from junks in a garbage yard. Now possessing Freya's collections of Earth items, he chases the group, only for his new body to prove to be too large for the corridor, forcing Moa to extract his true form - a green slime - from it. Doraemon then freezes him and sends him to a black hole to ensure that he'll never return.

Nature[]

Moa's nature and what kind of it was is a mystery. He first appeared as a mysterious hooded creature with a black cape whom visage obscured by a shadow with the exception of glowing red eyes. When Commander Liebert resisted Moa's influence long enough for him to blast the entity, Moa is revealed to be a skeletal-looking robot, much to everyone's confusion.

However, it's later revealed that the skeletal robot was a mere vessel, with Moa himself managed to escape death and threatened Doraemon and company with a crude body made of Freya's collection of Earth items. However, the crude body proved too large for the corridors of Rian's ship that it ultimately forced to shed it away, revealing its true form as a light green slime that immediately was frozen by Doraemon and sent to a black hole.

In the manga, Doraemon proposed Moa as an amalgamation of spitefulness within everyone's heart that somehow given physical form as a slime-like entity. This idea supported the claim of the spirit of Lian's mother who explained the testament of Moa's supernatural ability to corrupt Liebert alongside his loyal troops and Freya (temporarily). By this, it safe to assume that instead of outer space, Moa instead came from dimension within living beings' consciousness.

Trivia[]

  • Since the movie was created as a parody of Star Wars, Moa was inspired by Emperor Palpatine. Like Palpatine, Moa can be considered as an evil incarnate in that story, has corrupted one of the protagonist's father (in this case, Commander Liebert who happened to be Lian's father) and mostly seen as a hooded figure with immense powers.
  • True nature and origin-wise however, Moa shares much in common with The Negativitron from Little Big Planet 2 , The Nothing from The Neverending Story, the accumulated malice within Orb of Caldea from Marchen Awakens Romance series, Don Armage from Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, and Mad Origin from GRIDMAN UNIVERSE. All of them are sentient amalgamation of negative emotions in the universe and very dangerous because of both their nature and inherent malice.
  • Moa's full name, Angolmois, comes from the prophecies of Nostradamus about the reign of the great king of Angolmois, which is interpreted as being an anagram of the Old French word Mongolais 'Mongolians' and thus referring to Genghis Khan.
