Nobisuke Nobi (
Early life[]
During his childhood years, Japan was in the heat of World War II. Beaten by the harsh life of labor, Nobisuke wanted to commit suicide by drowning in the river. The thought was stopped by the intervention of Nobita and Doraemon, visiting him via the Time Machine, with Nobita disguised as a young girl who gave Nobisuke a chocolate.
When he was younger, Nobisuke was a talented artist, so talented in fact, that a local rich man offered allowance for his creations, if Nobisuke married the rich man's beautiful daughter, Kaniko Kanimitsu. However, Nobisuke turned the offer down and got kicked out. At about the same time, he came across Tamako Kataoka, and eventually started a family with her. The couple had a son and named him Nobita.
Appearance[]
Nobisuke's appearance almost remains unchanged every anime version with exception in his eyes.
Personality[]
Nobisuke is a typical Japanese salary man: working in a firm as a commoner, maintaining various hobbies and traits such as golfing, fishing, and the occasional smoking, which he barely does in the 2005 series.
Much like his son, Nobisuke doesn't have the best athletic prowess, being the butt of the joke about these abilities, or lack thereof. A frequent running gag in the manga is that he never manages to get a driver's license due to his poor driving skills.
He is generally more tolerant towards his son, Nobita, when compared to his wife Tamako. Nonetheless, Nobisuke does care about Nobita's achievements, sometimes making comments that can affect Nobita considerably, be in one way or another. He often shows interest in a great variety of challenges and adventures, which inevitably makes the rest of the family worried, to the point where Doraemon needs to use his gadgets just to protect him from any accident that could occur.
When Nobita learned that Doraemon had to return to the future, Nobisuke consoled his son and shared empathy with him.
Family[]
Nobisuke is married to Tamako and has a son, Nobita. In the future, Shizuka would be his daughter-in-law. His grandson would be named after him. He is the great-great-great-grandfather of Sewashi, the original owner of Doraemon.
In his childhood, Nobisuke was treated in a disciplined manner by his father, Nobita's grandfather. However, his mother, Nobita's grandmother, was very kind to him. Nobisuke has a younger brother, Nobirou Nobi, who is an excellent athlete, and a caring brother.
Trivia[]
