Pawaemon (パワえもん) is one of Doraemon's friends from the Robot Academy. He appeared only in the 2005 anime series.

History[]

Pawaemon has the best performance amongst cat automatons of his type.

At an unknown point after his graduation, he was chosen by the Japanese Prime Minister as a caretaker of their son, and stays in their private residence for his job.

Personality & Characteristics[]

Pawaemon, a serious workaholic, takes his tasks with serious professionalism. Quick-witted and intelligent, he is proficient in a variety of fields, namely his swift & accurate responses to situations, marksmanship with the Air Cannon as well as his job as a caretaker. He is also a decent motorcyclist, able to handle his scooter at high speeds. With his high performance, he is often harsh and doesn't shy away from unleashing criticism at everyone else, though he never exaggerates and uses facts to tackle his opponents along with his no-nonsense attitude, which has agitated the opponent on occasions. While he does display his achievements, he is not as boastful as the wealthy Suneo, and just does his job. On the other hand, Pawaemon is also quite helpful and friendly, keeping his cool under tense situations while also collaborating with others well, not hesitating to offer support if they are in an urgent need of help.

Appearance[]

Pawaemon is a yellow cat robot. Unlike most of his kind which have no additional accessories, he wears formal clothes such as a dark green suit or a black jacket. Instead of a bell, he has a red bow attached to his collar. He clads his feet in black shoes. Occasionally, he wears a pair of dark glasses. His 4D pocket is conveniently attached outside of his clothing.

His engine sounds are similar to Doraemon in the episode The Day Doraemon is Reborn. However, in Battle! Cat-Model Robots vs. Dog-Model Robots, his engine sounds were changed to match that of Dorami and Noramyako's.

Relationships[]

Doraemon[]

They have known each other since they were in the robot academy. Pawaemon often dislikes Doraemon and his methods due to him being an outmode and not quite effective as Pawaemon himself, and, as a result, often ousts Doraemon easily. Doraemon is usually unable to take Pawaemon's criticism, as he prefers his own methods, even if Pawaemon was right.

However, while Pawaemon may seem antagonistic, he still holds genuine concern for his old friend. He advises Doraemon to get a reassembly at the factory for the benefit of Doraemon himself and whoever he is in charge with. When Doraemon has gone missing, he pretends to be unconcerned, yet silently leaves a tracker on Nobita before summoning authorities to rescue them, and provides invaluable assistance to the party as well as joining them to find Doraemon, even ignoring his regular duties with the prime minister's child.

Dorami[]

Pawaemon has rarely interacted with Dorami. He is eager to help when she asks for his assistance on her missing brother.

Noramyako[]

As with Doraemon, they have been acquainted with in the academy. Pawaemon does seem to respect her, which is likely attributable to her capabilities in general. Nothing more is known between them.

Nobita Nobi[]

Pawaemon disagrees with Nobita somewhat due to the latter being agitated when Pawaemon remarks on Doraemon's poor performance, which did not help Nobita, though Nobita himself didn't agree with Pawaemon much either due to their different mindsets - Pawaemon likes everything top-tier, while Nobita is totally okay with everything.

As with Doraemon, Pawaemon is also concerned with Nobita due to the latter being assigned to Doraemon. Knowing that he will continue to pursue his missing friend, Pawaemon tags him with a tracker and later calls the police to save him and his friends.

Besoemon and Kawaemon[]

In the episode Battle! Cat-Model Robots vs. Dog-Model Robots, Pawaemon's fellow classmates Besoemon and Kawaemon joined Pawaemon in seeking refuge to Doraemon's time to escape from DG Corporation, which is recalling all cat-shaped robots. They are not directly named in the episode, but are credited in the opening credits.

Time Patrol[]

Pawaemon appear to be held in a reputable position by the authorities. While he is never seen interacting with the police, his ability to swiftly summon them suggests that he is credible and on good terms with them.

Trivia[]

  • Pawaemon's name is translated as Poweremon in the official website.
  • Pawaemon was going to debut in The Galaxy Grand Prix (2015 US Dub), but he was cut out due to time constraints.
