Penerbit Tora Aman is a former Malaysian publishing company that found on 1993 and closed in May 31, 2017.

History[]

The company name was based on Toraemon's name.

Penerbit Tora Aman started it's business in 1993 and has 40 staffs. The company has translate the Japanese manga into English, Chinese and Malay. They has best known as publishing Doraemon and other Japanese manga series (For example: Decetive Conan.) Some bookstores has no giving money to the company after importing books.

From 2007 year onwards, Tora Aman started to republish old comics.

The company staffs has reduced to 4 in 2017. on April 11 to 26, the company has started the event that reduce the price into RM2.00. A total of 100000 books were sold to customers. The company then closed it's doors in May 31 for good and the license were passed to Gempak Starz, the company that currently publishes the Malay version of the six compilation books that based off the Italian version.

  • Almost all of the Japanese texts were kept untranslated or removed. (See Trivia section)
  • For the early manga volumes, the Chinese Doraemon logo were placed on the volume number circles. However, started from the later manga volumes, the translated Doraemon's name text were placed instead.
  • In an manga chapter, Nobita's mom calls his wife as "his old friend".
  • Shizuka's bathing were censored in some manga chapters in their releases.

Trivia[]

  • Almost all of the Japanese texts were kept untranslated (or removed) in their releases of the Doraemon manga. However, they also kept even a little Japanese fun fact (during Kibo's explaination) untranslated, likely due to the space contrainsts.
