Priest Xuanzang Sanzang (三蔵法師 Sanzō Hōshi) is one of the main characters in Doraemon: The Record of Nobita's Parallel Visit to the West. He is based on Priest Xuanzang from "Journey to the West".
Previously, he also appeared in the 1979 episode The Mountain of the Roaring White Dragon of Time Patrol Bon, and The Record of Nobita's Parallel Visit to the West and Doraemon: Nobita and the Animal Planet were partially inspired by the Time Patrol Bon episode.
Personality[]
In The Record of Nobita's Parallel Visit to the West, Xuanzang was aware of Linlei's true identity and his intention as a spy for his parents, however Xuanzang intentionally let the boy to accompany to his journey to save the boy to regain his true ideology. Xuanzang eventually earned respect from Linlei, and resulted in Linlei's betray of his parents.
Trivia[]
- In both Doraemon and Time Patrol Bon, interferes of protagonists to the journey of Xuanzang resulted in creations of legends of Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing. In the later, Bon Namihira and Ream Stream used tokusatsu suits of kaiju and kaijin that Bon borrowed from his uncle, and as the teens didn't activate Forgetters, becoming the roots of Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie.
