The City of Dreams, Nobita Land is the first episode of the 1979 anime to be broadcast. However, it was not the first to be produced, as The Fishing Pond in My Study Room predates it in production order.

Plot[]

Nobita is skating in the lobby of his house while Doraemon is holding his hands. After Doraemon lets go, Nobita loses his balance, causing Doraemon to pick him up by the head and accidentally crash into a door, angering Tamako. She tells them that skating is not allowed in the house.

However, it is too dangerous to skate outside, as Nobita is almost hit by a truck. While walking, Doraemon and Nobita spot a sad Shizuka, who had been asked to go outside as her mother was having a tea gathering. Just then, Suneo Honekawa asks if they want to play dodge ball, which they agree to. However, when they go to the Open Lot, they are disappointed to find it blocked off with a sign reading "Enter prohibited xx company construction". Takeshi Gouda explains that the area is reserved for construction work.

Back in his room, Nobita expresses his desire to live in his own city where he has the freedom to do anything he wants. Doraemon takes out the Instant Miniature-Making Camera from his pocket and takes a picture of Nobita's house. When Nobita pours hot water on the picture, it turns into a miniature house, complete with furniture. Next, Doraemon enters the Gulliver Tunnel and comes out of the other end of it much smaller than before, allowing him to enter the miniature house. Impressed, Nobita photographs more buildings around town and creates his own city, then tells Doraemon to take some more pictures while he asks Gian, Suneo, Shizuka and Yasuo to follow him into the Gulliver Tunnel. All four are amazed at the newly constructed miniature city, and spend the day having fun and doing what they please. Suddenly, Tamako's foot steps through the roof of Nobita's miniature house and begins tearing the city apart, forcing the friends to escape through the other end of the tunnel. Surveying the pile of houses, Tamako calls it "garbage" and asks two construction workers if they can build a small warehouse there. Nobita and Gian both ask and threaten Doraemon to arrange a free land, but such a task is impossible. When Tamako asks Nobita to clean the garbage, the remaining kids escape and leave the job up to Doraemon. Before he can escape, all the garbage is thrown on Doraemon, much to his dismay.
